Počitelj, Blagaj and Mostar
Three stops in the Neretva valley, each quite different: a fortified village on a hillside, a river that flows out of a cave beneath a cliff, and the old town of Mostar.
Lunch is by the water, either in Blagaj or in Mostar, whichever suits your timing.

Počitelj
Mostar
The plan
Počitelj
An Ottoman-era village stacked up a rocky hill, crowned by a stone tower. Walk to the top for the view down the river.
Blagaj
The Buna river emerges from a cave at the foot of a tall cliff. Beside it stands an old dervish house, with restaurants along the water.
Mostar
The bridge, the bazaar and the old streets on either side of the Neretva.
Good to know
Bring a passport or ID card for the border. At the dervish house, shoulders and knees should be covered; wraps are lent at the door.
