Dubrovnik to Split, with a break in Ston
Of all the stops on the way to Split, Ston is the easiest to add. It lies directly on the route, an hour out of Dubrovnik, and turns a long drive into a relaxed day with a walk and a proper lunch in the middle.
Climb the walls above the rooftops, or settle at a table by the harbour in Mali Ston for a plate of oysters. Then it is over the Pelješac Bridge and up the coast to Split.

Along the way
Ston
The defensive walls run up one side of the hill and down the other. They were built to protect the salt pans below, and salt is still harvested there every summer. The walk takes about an hour.
Mali Ston
The little harbour just around the bay, where the restaurants serve shellfish farmed a few metres from the tables.
Pelješac Bridge
There is no stop here, but keep your phone ready: the view from the bridge across the bay is one of the best moments of the drive.
Good to know
You can do the whole route in reverse, from Split down to Dubrovnik. Let us know how much time you want in Ston and whether you have booked a restaurant, and Muhamed plans the day around it.
