Dubrovnik to Split through Počitelj and Mostar
If you can spare a whole day between Dubrovnik and Split, try the inland route. It swaps the Adriatic for the river valleys of Herzegovina and brings you back to the sea only at the very end.
Expect an early start and a full day. The bags go in the van at breakfast and come out again at your door in Split.

Along the way
Počitelj
Stone houses climb a rocky slope above the Neretva, with a mosque halfway up and an old tower at the top. The view from up there is worth the short climb.
Mostar
Walk across the Old Bridge, wander the bazaar and have lunch by the river. Most people find two or three hours about right.
Split
After Mostar you re-enter Croatia and drop down to the coast. Muhamed leaves you at your accommodation or at the port.
Good to know
The route crosses the border twice, so everyone in the van needs a passport or ID card. Summer queues can add time at both crossings, which is why the departure time is agreed with some margin.
